Caly’s Kitchen is a Gluten Free bake shop that makes Gluten Free baked goods that taste just as good as non-Gluten Free foods, actually they’re better. Not only are our foods Gluten Free, they are also Soy Free, Potato Free and with the exception of our famous GF Corn Bread, Corn Free as well. You won’t find artificial colors, flavorings or preservatives in any of our foods.
We believe in making our foods with natural ingredients and avoid the use of artificial ingredients and preservatives. What you see is what you get, simple ingredients that taste great. Just like homemade.
My Gluten Free journey began 7 years ago with our oldest daughter being diagnosed with Celiac disease at the age of 2. Back then, there were very limited choices in buying Gluten Free packaged foods and the choices that were available could barely be labeled as food. If you wanted to eat, you had to make your own food. Like most people starting this journey, I struggled for several months through trial and error, trying to figure out how make an edible bread substitute. It was frustrating and expensive trying to figure this all out.
I think the turning point for me was when my oldest daughter started school and attending birthday parties. Like most moms of children with Celiac, I would prepare all of her own GF food and snacks and bring them to the party as most people at the time still had no idea what Celiac disease was. It broke my heart when they would bring out these elaborate birthday cakes and treats and I had to explain to my daughter that she couldn’t eat those treats, but don’t worry, I brought some for you. The only problem was that they didn’t taste very good. While my daughter never complained (even once), it always bothered me.
That’s when I set out to create my own baked goods that would taste even better than the cake, cupcakes and treats she could never have. Fast forward 5 years and now I have to bring enough GF baked goodies for everyone when we go to a party as they are always a hit.
Our oldest daughter is also intolerant to potato, which is why nothing has potato in it as well, which along with corn is a very popular ingredient in gluten free foods. We decided to set about removing soy and corn as well because if you have Celiac, it is almost impossible to find something without corn, potato or soy in it.
Caly’s Kitchen is for people that want to be gluten free as well as people with corn, potato and soy allergies. It’s for people who want to be able to eat baked goods that taste awesome and not have to settle for cardboard just because they have a food intolerance or allergy.
